Time passes and society and places change, yet we often don't notice or overlook the visual clues we see everyday.

But, by always carrying a camera and recording those daily encounters, Johnny Stiletto managed to capture a very personal view of life on the streets of London in the 1980s.

‘Timber Wave’, a unique installation by Amanda Levete Architects and Arup, takes the V&A out onto the street in a dramatic celebration of the London Design Festival’s residency at the Museum. The three-dimensional latticework spiral is made of American red oak, using lamination techniques normally used in furniture making, and applied to create a piece 3 storeys high.

The work is supported by The American Hardwood Export Council.

The V&A is delighted to welcome the London Design Festival, a nine-day festival that celebrates London as the creative capital of the world. As the Hub of the Festival, the V&A is the first port-of-call for Festival visitors: the place to meet, pick up information, visit inspiring installations and events, and to enjoy the Festival atmosphere.

Meet George Barris. You might not recognise the name, but you might just recognise the car next to him.

He is the man responsible for designing the iconic Batmobile for the 1960s Batman TV show, as well as other famous movie cars.

George, not one to shy away from self-promotion, styles himself as the "king of the kustomizers".
