What's the most enjoyable part of the writing process?

All good writers know that writing isn't easy.

Neil Gaiman, author of "Coraline" and other works, once said: "Being a writer is a very peculiar sort of a job: It's always you versus a blank sheet of paper (or a blank screen), and quite often the blank piece of paper wins."

Most writers would probably agree. But while writing may not be easy, we love it anyway.

What is your favorite part of the writing process, other than the finished product? (That would be too easy.)

Ragan.com asked its Facebook group this question, and most respondents agreed that there's nothing better than when the words begin to flow. Here's what they had to say:

"The moment the lead comes to me." - Paige Skinner

"When it all starts clickin'!" - Dawn Marie Gorman

"The deluge of ideas, when words start to move like Jagger in your head, the adrenaline rush." - Cathy Hizo

- Paige Skinner

-  Dawn Marie Gorman

- Cathy Hizo

"When words tumble from your head onto the page. Intense, unstoppable and more achieved in one hour than the previous six." - EDG Communications

"When you hit your stride and adrenaline helps fuel you to the finish. I love getting completely immersed in a topic." - Katy Ryan Schamberger

Others like when they already have the ideas and can finally determine the best way to articulate them:

- Katy Ryan Schamberger

"When you can finally convert your thoughts into the written piece you are writing. I always know what I want to say, but actually formulating the words to communicate the message doesn't come as easily. But I like when it all comes together and I get in my groove." - Daria Cuda

“ - Daria Cuda

"Developing something that would by all other accounts be deemed a word salad at best, into a wieldy word entree that should be consumed by the masses." - Meredith Plaxco

- Meredith Plaxco

"Arranging random word pieces into a beautiful paragraph picture!" - Laura Warfel

-  Laura Warfel

But organizing your thoughts and getting the words to flow is a challenge. Josey Rebelle shared what runs through her mind when she sits down to write. Does this sound familiar?

"Oh, I should get a cup of tea, and hang on, this notebook is awful for writing notes. Let me grab another one. Ah, it's lunchtime now. People work better after lunch anyway, I definitely read that somewhere. Let me check all my emails. Actually, let me reply to all my emails from the last month. That's writing too, you know, and will probably help me get into my stride. Oh wow, 6 p.m. already. Well I think it'd be better to get in to the office really early and get this feature done. I always feel a lot more productive in the mornings!"

There are also times when you just want to give up before you begin. Troy Griggsby says his favorite part of the writing process is "never starting."

What do you think is the most enjoyable part of the writing process?
