Man with hidden camera asks managers why fast food doesn’t look like ads

PRDaily : By Kevin Allen | Posted: June 19, 2014

Part of the unappealing nature of fast food, aside from the mysterious ingredients used in the
products, is that the burger you get never looks like the burger featured in the ad. This is no big
surprise. PR Daily reported about a blogger who made these comparisons last December.

Most recently, YouTube user (and prankster) Greg Benson made it his mission to ruin  a few
store managers’ days by complaining that the product didn’t match the photo.
Because hidden cameras are always so entertaining, check out the video below:

At least that one McDonald’s employee got a kick out of it.

I have to say, it’s becoming a little too cliché to beat up on fast food advertisers for making their
product look appealing. At the risk of hopping on the side of evil corporate entities that are filling American veins with plaque, they’re in an impossible situation.
Be honest with the photos, and you’ll remind people that fast food is awful. Make a perfect product
every time, and you can kiss goodbye the “fast” aspect of the food.
Even McDonald’s, which took a shot at transparency with this video from a couple years ago,
can’t seem to catch a break:

But if I haven’t sufficiently depressed you, check out this infographic below, which not only shows
side-by-side ads and their real-life counterparts, but also lists some of the ways they make the
food look so darn good
(see: motor oil as syrup, etc.).
